MEMBERSHIP DUES are annually beginning January 1 of each year. Dues are not prorated.
An active member is a lawyer licensed and in good standing to practice law in Colorado or a Colorado justice, judge or magistrate in good standing.
A life member is a lawyer who has been licensed to practice in Colorado or in any other state for at least 30 years, who either (i) is licensed and in good standing to practice law in Colorado, (ii) is in good standing in Colorado as a licensed lawyer on inactive status, or (iii) is not actively engaged in the full-time practice of law but was, when last licensed as a lawyer, in good standing; (iv) and who has been a SCBA member for the most recent 10 years. Each life member shall be exempt from the payment of dues.
Any individual enrolled in an accredited law school may be member of Sam Cary Bar Association free of charge.
An associate member is a non-lawyer whose primary occupation is directly involved in assisting attorneys on a regular basis in the delivery of legal services, Associate membership shall be limited to paralegals, legal secretaries, legal assistants, law office administrators, those employed in the field of alternative dispute resolution, court reporting and deposition service providers, court personnel, bar association staff, and those who have received a law degree from an accredited law school but have never been licensed to practice law.
Each associate member must have an active member sponsor the associate member’s annual renewal of associate membership and certify that the non-lawyer meets the qualifications stated in the first sentence of this provision.
